AnimaSyros, 2026

XYZ (2026) was presented at the 19th edition of the ANIMASYROS International Animation Festival, held from 21 to 27 September 2026 on the island of Syros, Greece. Selected for the International Panorama, the film had its Greek premiere on 22 September at the historic Apollon Theatre in Ermoupoli.

Established in 2008, ANIMASYROS is Greece's largest international animation festival and one of Europe's prominent events dedicated to the art of animation. Its 2026 edition presented over 280 films from 50 countries, alongside special tributes, educational workshops, masterclasses and the Agora, a professional forum fostering exchanges between filmmakers, artists and animation industry professionals. The festival's programme embraced a broad spectrum of contemporary animation practices, from traditional techniques to experimental and interdisciplinary approaches.

Presented within International Panorama II, a non-competitive programme dedicated to works distinguished by their technical and artistic experimentation, XYZ screened alongside five international short films. Its inclusion highlighted the relationship between experimental cinema and animation, situating the film's exploration of architectural space, photographic continuity and visual perception within a broader dialogue around the possibilities of the moving image.
